Jailbreak Windows RT

This guide explains how to install the Windows RT jailbreak package, disable Secure Boot restrictions and install Yahallo on supported devices.

Requirements

A Tegra-based Windows RT device with either:

Updates released after October 2016 contain "Jailbreak Killing" updates that prevent installation.

An 8GB or larger USB flash drive is required.

Download

  1. Download the Jailbreak package.
  2. Use the link below.

Create the USB

Warning: This will permanently delete any data stored on the USB drive.
  1. Format the USB drive as FAT32.
  2. Right click the downloaded file and select "Extract All...".
  3. Select a destination for the extracted files.
  4. Click "Extract".

Install Golden Keys

  1. Insert the Jailbreak USB into the device.
  2. Run Jailbreak_USB_Menu.cmd as Administrator.
  3. Select Option 1 (Install Golden Keys).
  4. Select Option B (Boot from USB on next reboot).
  5. Select Option R (Reboot device).
  6. Wait for the boot menu countdown.
  7. Use the Volume Keys to highlight "Accept and Install".
  8. Use the Windows button on the device to confirm.

After selecting Accept and Install, the device will reboot automatically.

Install Yahallo

  1. Insert the Jailbreak USB into the device.
  2. Run Jailbreak_USB_Menu.cmd as Administrator.
  3. Select Option 3 (Install Yahallo).
  4. Select Option B (Boot from USB on next reboot).
  5. Select Option R (Reboot device).
  6. Wait for the boot menu countdown.
  7. When prompted, press and hold the Power button to shut down the device.

When Install Yahallo is selected from the boot menu, Yahallo launches automatically and does not require confirmation.

Uninstall Golden Keys

  1. Insert the Jailbreak USB into the device.
  2. Run Jailbreak_USB_Menu.cmd as Administrator.
  3. Select Option 2 (Uninstall Golden Keys).
  4. Select Option B (Boot from USB on next reboot).
  5. Select Option R (Reboot device).
  6. Wait for the boot menu countdown.

When Uninstall Golden Keys is selected, the device reboots automatically.

Confirm Secure Boot Is Disabled

Assuming no errors have occurred, Secure Boot should now be disabled.

To verify:

  1. Boot into Windows RT.
  2. Press Windows + R.
  3. Run msinfo32.exe.
  4. Check the Secure Boot State field.
